Sail and Work Experience

Fossee boasts impressive and extensive experience in the luxury yachting and traditional sailing industry, having captained and crewed on numerous prestigious vessels throughout his career. His career highlights include serving as captain of S/Y WYLDESWAN, S/Y BARK EUROPA, S/Y GLORIA and S/Y HELIOS, as well as taking on relief captain roles for yachts such as S/Y ELENA OF LONDON and S/Y MONDANGO.

In addition to his leadership at sea, he teaches at the Naval Academy and jumps in the role as Yard Captain during the commissioning of the new yachts built by Vitters Shipyard. His blend of seamanship, leadership and operational knowledge makes him well suited to support the guest experience aboard ATLANTIC.

Job Description

Fossee is responsible for navigation, safety, the overall running and financial management of the vessel, crew and guests. He ensures the safe and efficient operation of the yacht at all times, including compliance with all safety procedures and regulations.

He takes care of adhering to flag regulations, port state and local laws and regulations, manages the crew to ensure adherence to the vessel's policies, and provides daily leadership for the crew.

Qualifications and Certificates

  • Certificate of Competency: Master Mariner Unlimited, including Polar Code Certification
  • Trading Area: Unlimited (Merchant)
  • GMDSS General Radio Operator
  • STCW Codes: II/2, IV/2, A-VI/3, A-II/2, A-VI/4
  • Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW)
  • Radar Management (STCW)
  • ECDIS (STCW)

First Mate - Michael Pannone - Australian

Michael is a seasoned sailor with extensive experience in both sailing and motor yachts. He has most recently worked aboard the 65m classic S/Y ATLANTIC as First Mate during the Mediterranean charter season and classic regattas. Prior to that, he served as First Mate on the 35m M/Y KAYCEE, where he was also responsible for engineering duties.
